We head straight for Highclere Castle. Set within 1000 acres of parkland, Highclere has earned the reputation as the finest Victorian mansion in England. The castle has a fascinating connection with ancient Egypt as the 5th Earl and Howard carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922. TV fans also recognise the castle as the location for the Downton Abbey TV series. After the visit we head to Winchester in the afternoon for shopping & sightseeing.
